Army Education, Training and Doctrine Development Command Issues Press Statement to Clarify the Incident of “Strict Punishment for Military Official Violation of Gender Regulations in Military Base to Reinforce Education on Discipline”

The Army Education, Training and Doctrine Development Command expressed yesterday (6th) that, after receiving report that a Major, surnamed Liao, of the military unit was involved in indecent relationships, the military had immediately launched an administrative investigation, which verified the truth of the report. A disciplinary hearing was conducted in compliance with “Armed Forces Punishment Act” and the hearing panel resolution has meted out two major demerit points as punishment, as well as reviewed disqualification from military service.

The Army Education, Training and Doctrine Development Command expressed its regret and apologies that one of its personnel was unable to cherish his personal reputation and behave with self-respect. The Command will continue to strengthen education of military discipline and regulation, and ensure that military personnel will abide by regulations and observe proprieties in relationships. This will enforce the disciplinary order, restore military honor and prevent similar incidents from recurring.
